This book is not laid out as a 'field guide' or 'I.D. book' or 'garden planner' style, it is laid out as a book to read with a paragraph or two on each plant. It talks about the plant and where it lives naturally, its physical features and in most cases suggestions on where it might be used in a garden. A large 'x-section' of plants are covered in this way (trees, shrubs & other plants).
There is a long 'check' list (a few pages long) of other native Scottish plants at the end of the book that includes Latin, common & 'Gaelic/Scots' name. I enjoyed reading this book. I would like to know some outlets that stock some of the less common plants in the book?...Scotia seeds & NPK Landscapes do sell some of the species and eBay too now etc..
