Product Description

The Lady, 24/10/2006

"...a beautiful collection...inspired by the soft, muted natural
shades of the Scottish Isles."

Book Description

Rowan's Scottish Tweed yarn from the Isle of Lewis in the
Outer Hebrides is the jewel in Rowan's crown. In this fantastic new book,
Sarah Dallas joins forces with two colleagues from London's prestigious
Royal College of Art - former student Catherine Tough and fellows teacher
Wendy Baker - to create a singularly beautiful collection of sweaters,
cardigans, accessories, throws and cushions, inspired by the soft colours
and colour work traditions of the islands, but with a contemporary twist.
These unique, softly marled pure wool yarns come in a range of weights -
4ply, double knit, Aran and Chunky - and combine to create exquisitely
graded colour combinations.

Between them, the ladies have created 18 real classics that will stand the
test of time, including a brilliant cable wrap cardigan and a moss stitch
jacket from Sarah, a wonderfully comfortable man's jacket from Wendy and a
brilliantly simple felted child's cardigan from Catherine.

This book includes some delicate and very feminine designs, such as Sarah's
trademark little vest, a lacy wrapover top and a brilliant shrug. In
addition to garments there are also lovely accessories with Scottish flavor
such as Fair Isle socks, gloves and scarves and some great knits for the
home - a contemporary-style Fair Isle throw with Fair Isle stripe and Fair
Isle chunky cushions, plus a patchwork blanket!
