Does the trick 21 Sep 2011

I was recommended this book by my fiddle teacher and it is definitely a good place to start. Having said that, I feel it's a much better place to start if you have a teacher alongside it - to learn just from this book would be tricky for a beginner. The tunes and exercises are laid out fairly logically in order of difficulty, which is always a good thing for this kind of book! There's also an opportunity to practise writing the notes yourself, this being one of the things that would be best to have a teacher look over. All in all, a good place to start.

Adult learner. I have been teaching myself to play the fiddle and this book has been a big help. It is written for the UK learner but if you know some basics you can translate pretty easily.
