Doric humour at its best.,

This review is from: Scotland and the What? - the Final Fling [DVD] (DVD)
This is quite brilliant. Scotland the What? at His Majesty's Theatre Aberdeen is the perfect combination for those who love the Doric humour and language. The three performers bring together some of their classic sketches (Bruce and the Spider) with some new gems - the Doric-speaking parrot is a stroke of comic genius. Farewell to Auchterturra will no doubt bring a sentimental tear to the eye, not only as it's part of the trio's final appearance prior to their retirement, but as it's also a well-observed comment on the state of rural services in many parts of Scotland. Admittedly, the Aberdeen dialect can be a bit tricky for those with non-acclimatised ears, but I'm sure the useful translation of Nicky Tams will be most instructive. During my time in Aberdeen, I was fortunate enough to see Scotland the What? live in His Majesty's, and this DVD manages to capture much of the atmosphere and all of the humour.

Scotland the what? - fit like,

It was a sad day in the Doric lands when this excellent team of comics decided to hang up their bunnets; and a sad lack of taste that so little of their material has been converted to cd/dvd for posterity. Here we have a wonderful example of what we will sorely miss .
