5.0 out of 5 stars Better than reality ;-) 8 Sep 2012
Format:Paperback
Being somewhat frustrated by the bad summer weather that threatened to spoil my holidays some weeks ago, I was delighted to discover this book with so many beautiful pictures of the Scottish landscapes. I had already guessed that the mountains have real summits behind all the clouds... I don't care about a perhaps illogical order of the photos, I really love the emotional expression and the atmosphere they are transporting. And this for a really affordable price. This books helps me to keep my optimism that at some time I will see all the summits myself when returning to Scotland again.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as Joe Cornish 3 Jan 2011
By Kestua
Format:Paperback
The book has no clear layout to it's views across Scotland, and jumps from area to area, and whilst this might be ok if the images within flowed more easily based on either season or content, they do not, and so give the impression of being thrown together carelessly. Whilst the images within are fair, they do not represent truly inspiring landscape photography as demonstrated by Cornish or Waite. As an example, the image of Blair Castle on page 55 is washed out, lacks detail and there is no demonstration of composition on the authors part.

I would not recommend the purchase of this publication.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gorgeous and evocative 8 Mar 2004
By Heather Lowe - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
If you have fallen in love with the inexpressible beauty of Scotland and are looking for a memento that can quickly and consistently take you back, this is your book.

I own many photo collections on Scotland and this is probably my favorite. Baxter's photographs capture what the country looks like, but more than that, they capture what it feels like. They're works of art.

Keep this one on your coffee table--you'll want to look at it often.
