Product Description

Give Eve credit for not succumbing to hip-hop's fickle feminine fetishisation. While Foxy Brown and Lil' Kim have degenerated into scantily clad clichés, Eve (the self-described "pitbull in a skirt") has maintained her rougher edge without sacrificing a whit of her sexy energy. "Pretty with the heels on, or shitty with the Timbos," is how she puts it on "Gangsta Bitches", one of the standout tracks from Scorpion, her second album. Eve's clearly progressed as a lyricist, though her flow is occasionally on-the-beat clunky. That aside, she switches easily from anti-hater anthems ("Cowboy") to bitter revenge fantasies (the power-guitar-driven "You Had Me, You Lost Me") to straight-up bragging ("Got What You Need"). Throughout, she's assured and poised, matching Teena Marie's manic torch-song energy on "Life Is So Hard" and outshining most of her Ruff Ryder partners elsewhere. But, secure as she may be, Eve realizes that the game doesn't always last: "I'm trying to make a quick flip, nigga. Can you dig this?" she asks on "Cowboy". Sexy and smart. What's not to dig? --Jon Caramanica

3.0 out of 5 stars Average 26 Dec 2001

Format:Audio CD
i bought this single becasue i thought it would be an impressive follow up to her last Album. On all it's an ok album with a few great "crossover hits" like Let Me Blow Ya Mind & Who's that Girl Jadakiss reallly holds it down with Got it all but songs like No No No flow seems to be a little out of whack overall i think that it's an average Album and that anyone buying this album should consider purchasing Eve's debut album aswell

4.0 out of 5 stars eve is doing one for the ladies 6 April 2006
By tracy
Format:Audio CD
ive had this album for ages now and every now and again i play it from start to finish! i have a massive collection of rap/rnb albums and this is one of my faves. its refreshing to hear what a woman has to say for change. the production on this album makes it truly amazing. id find it hard to choose a favourite song, best ones are you had me, you lost me, gangsta bitches, got what you need (classic song in any club), scream double r. i think i like this album so much as eve is reppin for the ladies out there who enjoy hip hop and she's proving on this album she will give any pig headed, sexist man a run for their money anyday by spitting awesome hard hitting lyrics.

4.0 out of 5 stars An excellent follow up album 4 Mar 2001
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
This album is outstanding, much better than her first album. All the songs are good, with tight production and dope lyrics. 'Scream Double R' with DMX, is probably the best song on the album. There are appearences by all of the Ruff Ryder family, and all the songs are phat. Fans of Eve's first album will love this, and any rap fan will enjoy it. Defenitely a must-buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ryde or Die or Rewind again? 26 Feb 2001
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
An impolode of Hip hop fushion with the acidity of rnb. It was filled with Eve's usual stamina for singing and the rappin forte with the lox and Trina makes it an excellent rappers delight and a rap fan's great compilation. Must have it for all the urban-ites out there..... Da Breat rocks and is just as unrestricted as she usually is.....its all that not whack!

3.0 out of 5 stars wellllll............................ 27 Oct 2001
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
i bought this album for the hot singels, and at the first week i did enjoy this c.d but, from the second week and on i got tired of it, and i usually get tired of c.d's after about a month...
i mean, this album does contain some pretty good tunes but... i donn'o , something is missing. to my opinion missy and lil' kim are way better, i mean i have their album for months and i still LOVE them! so if you're lookin' for a good rap album, i would go for "so addictive" or "notorious kim".
sorry eve...
