From Amazon.co.uk

Piracy on the high seas and the mysterious Bermuda Triangle loom on the horizon in Pirates Ahoy!, but solving mysteries is the last thing on the Scooby-Doo Gang's minds when Fred's parents invite the group on a luxury cruise to celebrate Fred's birthday. It turns out that the cruise is actually a mystery cruise, but the gang solves all the Program Director's mysteries so fast that it looks like their trip to the Bermuda Triangle will be an uneventful one full of rest, relaxation, and all-you-can-eat buffets. Enter the creepy Mr. Mysterio, astral photographer Rupert Garcia who swears his ship was attacked by ghost pirates, eccentric millionaire Biff Wellington, and an eerie green-glowing fog that envelopes everything in its path, and the gang is suddenly immersed in a mystery in which their own lives and the lives of Fred's parents are at stake. There's updated music and a shift of focus from Scooby's and Shaggy's obsession with food and Daphne's simpleminded behavior to Velma's deductive reasoning. The group's collaborative efforts combine with an abundance of chase scenes to create a 70-minute Scooby-Doo movie with broad appeal to children ages 5 and older. Voice talents include Frank Welker, Casey Kasem, Tim Conway, Arsenio Hall, and Ron Perlman. --Tami Horiuchi

Product Description

Feature-length adventure for the great dane and his gang. When the gang take a creepy cruise into the legendary Bermuda Triangle, they find spooks and scares lurking around every corner - from alien sightings to terrifying Skeleton Ghost Pirates that like to sink cruise ships with cannonballs. If the crew can't solve this maritime mystery, will they have to walk the plank and become the Triangle's next victims?

3.0 out of 5 stars Arr, Matey! 9 Aug 2010
By Inspector Gadget VINE™ VOICE
Format:DVD
I wasn't so keen on watching this Scooby adventure as it has the shortest running time of all of them so far and I figured that it couldn't possibly have a substantial mystery worth taking an interest in.

And while that's true for the most part, they do make a huge effort to keep the viewer guessing by throwing in lots of distractions, more so than any other Scooby adventure. And despite it's brief running time it does manage pack in a fair amount of characters and guest voices, so in a sense they give more AND less.

The Mystery Inc. gang head off on a tropical cruise for Fred's birthday but things turn sinister when they pick-up a drifter floating in the water. No one believes his tale of ghost pirates (they're on a "mystery cruise" and are becoming quite jaded to the novelty), but only when said pirates show up do they gradually accept that it's real.

There's a few more in-jokes than normal in this one too. And while I usually hate in-jokes it's forgivable, and perhaps welcome, in a Scooby-Doo mystery. I am aware that the infamous Bermuda Triangle was the focus of a lower-wattage mystery in the third season of Scooby-Doo back in the early 70s, but this one is considerably better.

It looses points for being short, but it's still a worthy mystery.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT DVD 4 Feb 2009
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
This DVD can keep children occupied for hours as our grandchild, aged 3 watches it once a week. As the brand is well known I do not think that you need to know any more details than are shown in the selection. There is also the advantage of being able to order more from the Scooby Doo series. Highly recommended

Was a good DVD although I did feel that it wasn't on long enough. It did keep my niece entertained so I suppose that is the main thing.
