5.0 out of 5 stars BRILLIANT 25 Sep 2007

This is really a brilliant little box set, my little boys loves Scooby and this will really help his reading, there are 12 paperback books all scooby and shaggy stories and they are not too long (8 pages) so is wont get boring. Each book concentrates on different phonics and there is a list of words to look out for at the front of each book, the text is large and each page has pictures to go with the story. Also comes with a help sheet for parents, REALLY WORTH THE MONEY.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing 30 Dec 2011
Format:Paperback
To be honest, I was looking forward to these books, based on what others have said, but the books themselves are not very good quality from a printing point of view, and the phonics are definitely not for the very beginning stage of reading. I got these for my 4 year old, but don't find pages like: ' "Jeepers!" Shaggy cried. "Where is my brain? I forgot to invite the guests! Oh brother!" ' a suitable level as a first reader at all. He's enjoying me reading them to him, but it's back to the good old Oxford Reading Tree for learning to read I think...

5.0 out of 5 stars Scooby tongue twisters makes it fun 3 Jan 2010
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I bought 2 sets of these for christmas and my 4 year old daughter loves her set, each book sets a different set of letters that it concentrates on, hopefully it will help her to grasp an understanding of the english written language too but THE best bit is when I get tongue tied..Scooby screams as Shaggy stopped skiing suddenly, see?

My daughter (age 5) loves these books and the challenge of trying to read them. I thought 'pack 1' would mean that the words were very basic, but it is a little more advanced than expected. Nevertheless, she loves the stories and will be able to read them herself before too long.

My 4 year old daughter really likes these stories (but then she is Scooby Doo obsessed). She loves the pictures and is keen to try reading them for herself. Good repetition that is not so excessive the stories become dull. They are rather American though - references to closets, grocery stores and pretzels and the like.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really good phonics books 25 July 2014
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I've struggled to find books for my son that are at the correct level and are of stories / characters that appeal to him. My son has just finished year R and loves reading.

These book are very well written, follow the phonics system and are interesting.

They have more words in them per book than the oxford reading tree books, but aren't particularly long, so provided your child has the concentration, these are well worth the money.

I shall be buying pack 2 as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars BUY IT NOW! 18 Aug 2014
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Bought these books for my 5yr old brother who absolutely adores scooby doo but isn't a very keen reader, I was apprehensive about the quality of these books as some reviews mentioned poor quality. I could not disagree more! They are full colour and very good quality for the 7 you pay for 12 books! My brother couldn't like them more, since receiving them he has become very interested in reading for fun and I have since ordered some other reading books:) definitely a good buy!!
