I regularly bake for local fund raising events and am always looking for something different to tempt people to buy. This book caught my attention as I could not imagine that a whole book could be written about scones - I was wrong. There is a terrific variety of all sorts of scones from savoury to very sweet and most definitely something for every taste. I look forward to trying some of the more unusual ones, particularly the Christmas Scone Cake which involves soaking fruit in brandy overnight then is cooked and served with brandy butter - yummy!!

When one considers the cost of purchasing scones in cafes this book will hopefully encourage people to bake at home, not only to enjoy the variety of taste but also to get value for money.

I love scones and this book is fab. The book contains a multitude of scone recipes from the traditional to the bizarre (fish scones). If your looking for ideas to buck up an afternoon tea look no further than this book. The only reason for not giving 5 stars is the addition of odd recipes that seem to have been added to pad the book out.

Scones are no longer limited to grannies and competitive school mums. They can span across so many occasions and are easy enough for even us basic chefs to do beautifully. Lighter than a muffin and less sweet than a biscuit, they can make a healthy alternative for snack time or even cocktail hour.

This book is fabulous. Genevieve includes all the secrets you need to make the best scones. The recipes are way better than the usual plain vs. date scones. Highlights for me are the little spinach and fetta pinwheels (which make a great hors d'eauvre), pizzas, mini cheeseburgers and no-fatty-pastry sausage rolls to keep the kids happy. There are scones made with buttermilk, lemonade, green tea, beer, mascarpone, saffron... they are so inventive and bound to cause a stir where ever you take them. Most of the recipes have ingredients already in your pantry which is awesome if you're a last minute person like me.

I love this book and use it more than I thought I would. Highly recommended.
Also highly recommended is her Pavlova book.
