More About the Author

Author, humanitarian and Founder of Dianetics and Scientology, L. Ron Hubbard is one of the most acclaimed figures of the modern age.

In a writing career spanning more than half a century, he was both a leading light of American fiction and the author of more than 35 million words of nonfiction--the single most embracive statement on the human mind and spirit, providing the only road to total spiritual freedom.

To date, more than 250 million copies of his works are in circulation worldwide, in 71 languages. All told, those works comprise over 3,000 recorded lectures and some 5,000 writings, including nineteen New York Times bestsellers.

Accordingly, and in testament to the magnitude of his literary legacy, there are his four Guinness World Records: most published author, most translated author, the author with the most audiobook titles and the single most translated non-religious work.

Yet the essence of L. Ron Hubbard's legacy is perhaps best expressed in his simple declaration:

"I like to help others and count it as my greatest pleasure in life to see a person free himself of the shadows which darken his days.

"These shadows look so thick to him and weigh him down so that when he finds they are shadows and that he can see through them, walk through them and be again in the sun, he is enormously delighted. And I am afraid I am just as delighted as he is."

About the Author

L. Ron Hubbard's remarkable writing career spanned more than half a century of intense literary achievement and creative influence. Astonishingly prolific, he produced more than 550 published works of fiction and nonfiction. These ranged broadly in literary genres from action/adventure, western, mystery and suspense to science fiction and fantasy, and in subject areas of enduring social, cultural and philosophical significance from self-improvement and the spiritual, ethical and moral nature of man to education, drug treatment and rehabilitation, and business management, among others. Though he was first and foremost a writer, his life experiences and travels in all corners of the globe were wide and diverse. His insatiable curiosity and personal belief that one should live life as a professional led to a lifetime of extraordinary accomplishment. He was also an explorer and ethnologist, mariner, pilot, filmmaker, photographer, philosopher, educator, composer and musician.

A great book to simply answer the question 'What is Scientology?' but actually it goes a little deeper…

Fascinating insight into 'Mind, Body, Spirit' interrelationship and how that works scientifically.

An interesting view of God is discussed.

One underlying rule for all life that applies to everyone was incredible.

But overall a pretty smooth read that answers a lot of questions- more so about life itself rather than just Scientology. Got more from it than I thought I would.

If you enjoy learning about life and the sciences in a very factual format, without a tone of wordiness or long windedness, you'll love this book. It goes over extremely complex- yet very fundamental concepts. It covers basic parts of life and living that once you understand, will leave you wondering why you never had an answer to these before reading this text and why you never learned such important facts in school. Mind blowing, amazingly easy to understand and so simply explained.

Scientology is one of the most talked about, most questioned and most criticised movements that has emerged in the 20th century. Now, in 2013, it is expanding at a faster rate than any other religious movement on Earth, and yet the accusations against it are numerous. However, what a lot of people who have formed opinions about Scientology don't realise, is that very few people that don't consider themselves Scientologists actually know what Scientology is really about!

This book is a great summation of the basic principles, philosophies and ideas behind Scientology. It explains, very simply, things such as the importance of communication, the relativity of affinity to reality and communication, the eight dynamics of existence etc.

For anyone wanting to find out more about Scientology, critical or not, this book is a must-have. It takes a step back, and approaches the subject with fresh eyes and gives you the real facts about the core beliefs of the religion.

If you really want to know about Scientology, and want to form an opinion of it, I strongly suggest you read this book.

This is a book that tries to explain some of the basic ideas of Scientology. The main text of the book is only about 120 pages and the rest is a glossary and a list of addresses to Scientology orgs.

The book states that all the ideas in Scientology are scientifially provable, yet no proof is ever offered, even for the most absurd claims (such as that affinity, when low, turn into matter, etc.). I suppose that's one reason it's convenient for this "science" to also call itself a religion, because when asked for proof, they can claim it's a matter of faith.

We're told - as in all Scientology books - that the only reason one fails to understand what one reads is because one went past a word one didn't understand, so you must never do that when reading this book. And it's not an easy read, not because the words are difficult, but simply because most of it doesn't make any sense and it does a rather bad job at trying to make sense of the ideas. But of course, their explanation would be that I just didn't read it carefully enough.

We're also instructed to find some ideas we agree with before studying Scientology further, and told that "those who strike at this work out of some black well of ideological misorientation, some antisocial cravenness, strike at the heart of man" (p.4). In other words, if you disagree with this book, it's because you're an antisocial enemy of mankind. So much for thinking for yourself.

The book is also racist, as evident in statements such as "Unlike the yellow and brown people, the whiet does not usually believe he can get attention from matter or objects. The yellow and brown believe for the most part ... that rocks, trees, walls, etc., can give them attention (p. 24) and "...

This is a great book that explains simply the basic aspects of life. What does that mean? It means it breaks down life, thought, people into the most important information so that whole areas of life and living become clear - relationships, types of people, happiness, work; things that make up living, basically - and as a result you are wiser and understand what's going on. I found it fascinating.

Amazing book!!!! i never get tired to read LRH books.. I became a scientologist after trying different things. And nothing has given me what I have found in scientology! Now I am truly happy as I found myself!!! My love for people has increased.. My ability to think clear has increased 10x more.. My IQ went straight up like my family cannot believe how much I've changed..
When I read criticism about scientology I feel sorry for those poor souls.. They are miserables beings trying to prevent others from finding out the truth! If I were to listen to them I would be dead by now.. When I used to be depressed.. Nobody was able to help me apart from scientology.. The doctors only wanted to give me more medication until one day I've made a decision to look for myself.. And I am glad that I did!

If you want to be free .. Go .. Find the truth for yourself!! And you will understand what these miserable beings are trying to do... Discusting farmaceuticals companies.. Hidden behind names.. You know that if everyone gets into scientology your business is going to end... The doctors will have no more patients to prescribe drugs and what are you going to do with your deegre lol so I understand why you guys have to create such a bunch of lies and try to make people believe in your horrible view point.

Scientology are for those who have the courage to find out the truth about themselves if you do.. Nothing will stop you. I m do glad that I did.

My life has changed completely and that's my mission here.. To help as many people as possible to change they too!
