Can't rate this highly enough. I bought the pack for my 5 year old last week and we have already tried about 10 cards. All activities work well so far and he is keen to try more. The scientific explainations are simple enough to talk about (but he prefers the 'doing' really). A teacher friend has also looked through and will be getting a pack for her class. Well worth it!

So easy and safe, budding scientists can be their own boss! 6 Oct 2010

Usborne always get a "thumbs-up" from me and this is no exception. 50 Science Things to Make & Do came home from the library with my son about a month ago (the spiral bound book, not the cards). He's seven, gifted, and a Mythbusters junkie, so although the experiments in here are pretty basic and easy (plus they don't go boom, explode, catch on fire or create flying objects, much to his dismay) he's had a great time being his own boss and reporting his findings to me whether I sit nearby or am involved with him. I can't see any danger factor and there seems to be minimal mess potential (cornstarch, water, marshmallows, pepper, milk, oil, food coloring are some of the ingredients). Several of the experiments are edible and several involve bugs (yippee!). This is a fantastic book for budding investigators and a great addition to any future scientist's collection.
