Has Science Fiction become too main stream?

There seems to be a lack of new Science Fiction coming out which is what I woudl call "Hard SF" or even "Space Opera". It all seems to be geared mroe for main stream readers - or is this just my imagination? Can anyone suggest some cutting edge sci-fi that I may have missed?
