Although released under the "Cosmic Jokers" tag, this album is actually a compilation of stuff both from the Jokers and the likes of Ash Ra Tempel and Wallenstein, much of it reworked and made into a part of something new and seamless. In a way this is the first remix album of all time! However each song retains a unique identity from weird electronica, to beautiful descending guitars and piano, eerie spoken voice pieces...
"Sci Fi" party is good album to get if you are discovering the German scene and want to know the variety of stuff that's out there.

This really is prime Krautrock. It's a mish-mash of remixed Jokers recording along with some Ashra Temple stuff. As the two bands are essentially the same entity the mixture really works. Jokers and Ashra are very spacey bands, but Sci Fi party takes them into interstellar regions. It really is that far out (man)! As a consequence it may be a bit too much for the un-initiated. A better place to start might be Planeten Sit-in (or perhaps the Ashra album Starring Rossi). Then again, everything the Jokers have done is worth a listen, so what the heck...

I have been meaning to buy a Cosmic Jokers album for years now - and last week, i finally heard one for the first time. My God, this is something special - and it has hardly left my cd player since i first pressed play. It is in the same sort of vein as early Ash Ra Tempel and Tangerine Dream, but even more spacey - i wouldn't dare compare it to the likes of UK space-rock, like Hawkwind etc, as i think they are appalling and this would be offensive to the Cosmic Jokers. Just buy it, you'll love it!
