Danny King deserves to be a massive success and should be read by anyone with a half decent sense of humour. Your efforts will be rewarded!. I have enjoyed every one of his books immensely and his latest, School For Scumbags, is no exception.
The plot, not to give too much away (unlike the blurb on the back!), revolves around one Wayne Banstead, essentially a bit of a teenage hooligan but with an eye for making a crafty quid or two when he can, who is packed off to the mysterious Gafin reform school. However, once there, Wayne and his colourfully portrayed reprobate peers, find that reform seems to be the last thing on their teacher's agendas...
What ensues is essentially a bit of a caper with all of King's trademarks (snappy dialogue, lots of effin' and jeffin', laddy humour to the max and the remarkable ability to make his readers actually laugh out loud - or, at the very least snigger quietly - every few pages) firmly in place.
Well worth reading and a perfect fun book to take on holiday with you. I gave in 4 stars simply because it's not quite as awesome as my other favourites. Namely, in order of greatness, The Hitman Diaries (you NEED a copy. NOW!), The Pornographer Diaries and Milo's Run. If you're new to Danny King, then read those and then read this. If you're already a fan then you should have this by now anyway!
