Product Description

E4s unique comedy sketch show sees children lampoon the world of adults – Bugsy Malone is back and it’s charming, audacious and genuinely groundbreaking. Meet a sexually repressed couple from the 1930s, a pair of hopeless South African security guards, a cockney cabbie with verbal diarrhea and Connie- the rudest landlady in Great Britain…

Feelgood, risqué and a touch surreal, School of Comedy reinvents the good old fashioned sketch show, just with little people.

The original School of Comedy stage show was taken to the Edinburgh fringe and received such rave reviews that Channel 4 commissioned a Comedy Lab pilot with Left Bank Pictures. C4’s Comedy Labs look to unearth the stars of tomorrow showcasing pilots of experimental comedy and after a successful pilot, a full series of School of Comedy was commissioned for E4.

Previous Comedy Labs have included Trigger Happy TV, Fonejacker and That Peter Kay Thing.

School of Comedy features a cast of teenagers including Will Poulter, the young actor who shot to fame in Garth Jennings' hit comedy Son Of Rambow.

"Laugh Out Loud Funny" - The Times

"Silly And Brilliant" - Metro

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant stuff! 8 Nov 2009
By Kelly
Format:DVD
Seriously seriously talented kids here folks who are greater actors than most adults max and will are amazing they can make anything funny and they are great at adding their own funny twists on things the sisters ella and lily are amazing also lily can copy an adult down to a t. the sketches are always funny and you don't get bored with them as you're more focused on the kids and what they'll come up with if school of comedy were an after school class at all schools attendance would go through the roof of kids wanting to join this idea. i'm 18 and i would kill to be in this show i love it so much, and what's also great is that you can tell that they're all having allot of fun doing it :)

3.0 out of 5 stars Comedy Class 6 Nov 2009
By DL Productions UK VINE™ VOICE
Format:DVD
The School Of Comedy is a 6 episode show where kids (Will Poulter, Beth Rylance and Jack Harries) take over and set their comedy agenda. Some of the funniest moments in the show include the cabbie who never shuts up, and lies about everything, the 40s couple, where one is homosexual and the other is a lesbian; the vulgar art gallery owner; the South African security guards and the one where the businessman thinks cleavage will solve everything.

This show is mediocre - it's funny but it does over do it sometimes, like the boy in the van yelling at women, it was funny the first time. Some of the stuff is genius like the estate agent and the funny doors, and the school teacher bullying the children - but at times it's too juvenile, and it's too adult for children, so you wonder who's it trying to amuse.

This is rather a unique project as most of them were born during the mid 90s - usually it's older comedians dressed as kids doing this stuff, so it's quite a novel idea from C4 and Barunka O'Shaughnessy; who like many of us have wondered what children would be like telling adult jokes. It's good to see it went from the Comedy Lab through to being a full series.

Hoping for some interviews on the DVD, and some behind the scenes. I suspect we will get a gag reel and some deleted scenes like most 4DVD releases.

Worth pre-ordering if you enjoy silly comedy and don't want to think hard about it.
