5.0 out of 5 stars Great start for the next Beethoven! 13 Dec 2007

My 18 month old absolutely adores this piano! This piano is very well-made, very sturdy, does not topple over, stood up to my son's abuse (he is at the age that he thinks everything is a drum!). It compliments our living room deco, even though our living room is white. The little bench is an asset, it makes him want to sit down and play the piano longer. BEST THING ABOUT THIS PIANO - BATTERY FREE! So though it's pricey to buy, you save on those expensive batteries replacement. It has very soothing (yeah, even with my son banging away), subtle keys, unlike some of those very annoying toys these days. It's one of his dad's favorite toy too!

My grandchildren, ages 2 thru 8 all enjoy playing this piano.
The 8 yr. old composes melodies, the 6 yr. old plays the color
coded songs, and the 2 year old simply likes the sounds she makes.

Both our adult daughters are piano teachers and have found this toy an excellent choice for a toddler to "play" with.

I bought this for my now 22-month son for Christmas (so he was 15 months old at time of purchase) because he loves all things music. And this piano was no different-- he LOVES it. He bangs on the keys and sings along to his own version of the ABCs. However, it is VERY poor quality, especially when it is designed for young children. For starters, it chips extremely easily. We have had it for 7 months, and it looks like we have had it for 7 years. The paint is chipped on every part of the bench and the piano, and it has stayed in the same location in our carpeted playroom ever since its purchase. But from banging, biting, and other toddler activities, it has not withstood the beating it has received in any way. However, this is not the hazard. The hazard comes from the big screws. They seem to just fall out. My 22 month old so can just take them out -- no tools needed -- and walks them over to me. Not only is this a falling apart hazard for the bench-- yes the legs have wobbled off without their screws, but obviously a serious choking and poking hazard of a large screw. This has happened not once or twice but four or five times. I am constantly tightening the screws, and I am about at the point where I will need to get rid of the piano entirely. Which is a huge shame, as it is a fun little toy and my musical boy really does love it. This is not only poor value for money, but also dangerous. Do NOT recommend!

1.0 out of 5 stars Okay, but an issue with the workmanship 9 Mar 2013

I wanted to get an instrument for an upcoming event (this is not my first toy piano) that my children could use afterward. Shipping was fast and the piano was in great condition. It looks extremely beautiful and is made from very sturdy materials (weighs more than the old Jaymar pianos.) However, the lower G on the instrument strikes F# instead of G. So when you play the most basic C E G chord you get something kind of weird. I can't use it with my small kids because they can't play anything with a G in it, and most beginning music has lots of G's. No time to deal with returning so I am stuck with something I probably won't be able to use. I ended up wedging something between F# and G to force the G closer to the right tine, but that affected the instruments play ability (action.) I don't know if this is a common issue with this brand I have always bought older models and I wanted something newer to use... from a musical perspective having a keyboard that strikes the same note with two separate keys is a failure. I know it is just a toy, but at least they can get every note represented and check to make sure the thing can play every note before selling, but it does look nice and the bench is pretty cool too.
