Product Description

Coinciding with their 135th anniversary, Schoenhut Piano Company has introduced a line of mid-sized, 44-key, stringed pianos with perfect pitch and TRUE PIANO SOUND. This piano is a new concept in the world of music and musical toys. The keys on the 44-key piano and other Schoenhut toy pianos are the same dimensions as those on a full-sized piano, so children learn the proper "finger stretch" from the very beginning, and have an easier transition from toy piano to a larger piano. With a keyboard half the size of that on an adult piano, this 44-key piano's four and a half octave span allows plenty of room for playing with both hands. Working pedals are easy for children to reach. Schoenhut, leader and innovator in the toy piano and musical toy industry, recognized the need for a mid-sized piano to ease the transition from a toy to a full-sized version. These beautifully crafted stringed instruments were created after months of in-depth collaboration on the design with a reputable, century-old piano manufacturing firm. This line is not intended to replace Schoenhut's vintage models that feature chime-like tones, like those originally developed by Alfred Schoenhut in 1872. Rather, the introduction is in response to requests from customers for a "new" sound. You can listen to a demonstration of the 44-key pianos here, at http://www.toypiano.com/toyfairvideo2007.htm.

Hi, this is a half size piano from Schoenhut. This is not one of their toy ranges with chime like tones. This 44 key piano has 3.5 octaves and is a real string piano with true piano sound.

There are Youtube videos on available on this model so you can really hear the rich sounds of it. It is perfect for those who lack the space for a full sized baby grand piano.

There are only a handful of these pianos in the UK from specialist piano retailers.

The Keys are full sized keys to encourage proper finger stretch. The piano is half the size of a normal piano so is also perfect for that transition onto a bigger piano and is greatly ideal for children who have difficulty reaching the pedals.

This beautiful, quite grand, SCHOENHUT PIANO COMPANY BABY GRAND, in BLACK, is a true rendition of a 'BABY' Grand Piano. It has all the accoutrements that a regular grand piano has, with hammer action keys, and traditional grand piano styling. it's the most "baby" of baby grands....sized just right for a child of under three feet in height.

My problem with ALL fully-designed "child" pianos, (a opposed to just having a piano keyboard by itself), is this: What happens when the child G.R..O...W......S? Their knees will come up to the keyboard ledge, then beyond it! It will become totally useless, because the child is bound to outgrow, (in size only), such a childish "piano".

So, unless your child is TRULY a prodigy, and you TRULY have a prodigious amount of money, I would respectfully suggest that you NOT buy this, or any other "child piano". Get a keyboard, that you can put first on a child-size table, then on a regular piano stand. Better yet, get a full-size, regular,(or baby) grand piano -- as expensive as you can afford. Get a stool which will twist upward for little feet that can't reach the pedals yet, or get a few immovable cushions. Your child this way will NEVER outgrow his or her childhood piano...and hopefully, will keep playing at their cherished "grown-up", childhood piano, for the rest of their lives!
