Format: Audio CD
This 2006 album is, I think, the third from Absentee. I listened to it after having heard some of Dan Michaelson's solo work and wanting to hear more of his unique voice and writing.

It's an excellent album. It takes a wry, cynical look at life, inverting the traditional love song and talking about the way most people really feel. Lyrically there is an eye for everyday detail and a sense of humour that ether makes you smile or think. Centre stage is Dan Michaelson's voice, that deep, craggy moan that sounds perpetually world weary. He's a great singer, totally unique. The rest of the band are no slouches either, and a decent album of music ranging form slower, bluesier numbers to some up-tempo rockers result, played with precision and imagination.

An excellent album, certainly the best of Absentee's short life. 5 stars.

This wonderful cd is on permanent loop in my car at the moment. From the first track when Dan Michaelson's incredible deep voice comes in I was hooked. Great tunes, funny lyrics, play it loud, play it soft it seems to fit every mood.

Witty yet poignant lyrics and great melodies coupled with the astonishing lead vocal delivered by Dan Michaelson make Schmotime a must buy album for anybody looking for something a little different to brighten up their days, nights, whenever really! You won't be disappointed.
