I adore the schleich elves range and this, in particular, is so beautifully made. While not a collector (these are play items for my daughter's castle) I can see why some people do collect these for display. If my daughter didn't play so nicely with these I wouldn't let her have them as they're too nice.

The items seem very sturdy, stand up well and not easy to break - some kind of hard plastic. But the paint is prone to a little chipping/flaking - only with extensive play to be fair. So basically if you want to keep the items pristine, use them for display and not as toys.

For the absolute best quality figurines which children can play with, I don't think Schleich can be beaten. For very young toddler hands or rough play I would say these are far too good.

Very good detail and shading which makes the horse in particular so realistic and I love the added glitter too which really gives the item that special finishing touch. Stunning.
