Product Description

Towering over other dinosaurs, the terrible T-Rex ran swiftly with long strides.Although it looked menacing, the T-Rex had little use for its short arms which only had two claws and could not reach its mouth. At almost twenty feet high and almost forty feet long, the T-Rex was not a great hunter but a scavenger, eating what other animals or dinosaurs left behind. Even though it had over fifty teeth that were over six inches long, its teeth were not used to chew but to tear since it swallowed its meals in chunks. To have better depth perception in looking for its next meal, the eyes of the T-Rex were both pointed forward so that its vision overlapped.Fun Facts: The skull and jaw of the T-Rex were almost as tall as the height of a school bus. Scale: 1:40Item size in cm (L x W x H): 9 x 26 x 23Age 3+

Durability:    Educational:    Fun:
When the T-Rex turned up it was difficult to make it stand up, and within a few weeks it became impossible to get the model to stand up at all (it simply fell over).

The reason this happens are i) the base (the feet) are not flat; ii) the feet are very small to act as bases for such a large and tall toy (although I can't blame Schleich for the anatomy of a T-Rex, so I'll let them off and just say that it isn't really a suitable animal to be modelling); and iii) if you look at the picture, you can see that the head which is to the left of the feet is much larger than the tail to the right of the feet, as such it's centre of gravity is displaced forward (meaning it falls over).

Perhaps they should just re-label the toy "Dead Tyrannosaurus Rex", then it can lye happily on it's side.

That said, mine may just have been a one off `dud' (but given the issue with the centre of gravity I suspect it is a wider issue).

Sizes Given Incorrect 23 Mar 2012

Durability:    Educational:    Fun:
I quote:

"Technical Details = Item size = 32.3 x 24.5 x 7.3 cm"

"Product Details = Product Dimensions: 7.1 x 35.1 x 22.1 cm"

These are the obvious things you read... but hidden in the product description it says

"Item size in cm (L x W x H): 9 x 26 x 23....."

Make your minds up......

Anyway, its smaller than I expected definitely more like the last set of measurements....a bit rubbish and misleading really, c'mon Amazon, get it right and get it consistent.

otherwise its an OK model....

Nice T-Rex 14 Feb 2012
Durability:    Educational:    Fun:
Delivery was prompt. Packaging was good. Product was intact. Nice details, a bit smaller than what I expected. But the quality is excellent and a bit heavy. My son loved it very much.
