Catherine Fox, in a departure from her previously published works, has created an hilarious and witty insight (at times, an adult one) into life as a vicar's wife. The way the book is formulated by her, using the basis of the Christian calendar of services, is very clever and easy to follow, there being a (funny) glossary included to assist the uninformed reader. Also included is a totally unlikely list of obscure saints' names.
Even if you are not a practising Christian, or are an adherent of another faith, buy it for an exceedingly funny read. And for Anglicans, particularly those in, or related to, a vicarage family, it is a must.
The illustrator, Bridget Gillespie, adds to the fun with some excellent pictures.
Fox is a delight - buy it and enjoy it as much as I did. Pleasant hours of enjoyment will follow!

Scenes from Vicarage Life: or, the joy of Sexagesima ... yes, indeed. Have you ever wondered what really goes on in the Church of England? No, not Lambeth Palace or the suits and offices, but out on the front line among the beige carpets and mis-matched furniture of a Real Vicarage? Why Stir-Up Sunday? What to do with an overhead projector ... this book will tell you ALL. And more. And make you laugh. Even if you're a bishop. Buy it!
