Product Description

Billy Faraday and the gang from Wellspring Cemetery have their annual Scavenger Hunt--and find themselves forced to flee their graveyard when a new threat appears.  In Hunted, the zombie kids from Wellspring are driven through the city to the dreaded neighborhood of Purvis Creech, bully extraordinaire, where a long overdue fight breaks out. During the melee, the zombie kids suffer an attack that scatters them in all directions. The return to Southside Cemetery can only happen if Billy convinces the occupants of rival graveyards Millsap and Parsons Green to band together as one.

3.0 out of 5 stars Very Gory 25 Jun 2011

In this short story, a group of kids are gathering at a cemetery for their annual -- and most unusual -- Halloween Scavenger hunt. Things start out haltingly - the kid's dialogue not sounding like they're old enough to be 11. But then the story takes an unexpected turn towards gratuitous violence. When I started reding this, I was expecting a fun/spooky kid's story, but it's more akin to a slasher film: high body count, lots of gore.

A disturbing plot twist ends the story with a cliffhanger. The next two installments in the series, HUNTED and SOUTHSIDE, are available on Kindle for $0.99. I won't be reading them - I like supernatural stories, but this style isn't quite for me. Also, (without giving away the story) I'm bothered by the premise. This sort of scavenger hunt would attract LOTS of attention , so how have the kids been getting away with it for years?

2.0 out of 5 stars What's the point? 21 Aug 2011

A bunch of zombie kids go on a Halloween scavenger hunt - collecting things like toes and brains. Given that each zombie kid (there are at least five) has to collect a body part from at least eight different people in order to complete the hunt, how is this an annual event?

Wouldn't the townspeople quickly realize that at least 40 people were being killed every Halloween? Wouldn't the victims reanimate? If not, then are these really zombies?

Part of the fun of zombie fiction is reading about how the world would react to zombies. This is completely missing here. Another part of the fun is the vicarious thrill of watching humans fight something (or be defeated by something) as alien as a zombie. This is also missing here - the kids are just like regular kids except they look like zombies.

Well-written, but I didn't enjoy it at all.

This was a cute short story.. not at all what I was expecting that's for sure.. The kids that were in the book spooked me out a little with the descriptions the author gave. I'm not sure if I would purchase the other books in the series but I sort of want to see what happens with the adults, so maybe.. but this was a fun read and especially for something to read around Halloween time.
