Book Description

Scatterings is a story written about a set of extraordinary events that occurred in the life of a woman.
This book has been written for anyone who has an interest in improving their relationships and their lives. It is a passionate and inspiring story that can move us in the depth of our souls, tickle us on our feet and raise us to sing and rejoice with the angels.
Simone Demblon Roseman spent most of one year in an ICU ward and among many atypical adventures had three near-death experiences. She writes here of the journey within and without from that time to current.
With humour, grace and sometimes solid slang and dirt, she relates the story of gifts given and received, reflecting on a life of a thousand glimpses of the many dualities that lead us through joy and pain, and all the other contradictions that make up our lives.

About the Author

Scatterings is a book about part of my life and a series of life changing events. I wrote the book because my story seems to affect people in a positive way and I am hoping to reach a wider audience. The story is a initially a medically based story, where following on after a 15 minute operation I spent most of the rest of that year in an intensive care unit. When I left the hospital I found that there was no defined path to take me from being “well enough to be released” to “getting my sparkle back”, and so I started on a path of self-discovery, and a physical, emotional, mental and spiritual journey to what I like to call "wellness". In the process I have discovered; how strong I actually am, that the body has an incredible power of healing, that anything is possible if you accept the challenge, that I do believe in karma, that life is a process that we do on our own even if we are surrounded by loving people, that dying is not as frightening as it is made out to be (having had three near-death experiences), that doctors are human beings who can make mistakes, that it is easier to forgive than to become bitter, that life is filled with golden moments and that there were so many things to learn that I could fill a book. So as the name of the book imparts, I have told this story in a scattered manner, a swirl of chapters as autumn leaves swirl in a wind dance; not as one body but many parts making up one whole.

The foreword alone got me emotional before I started the book ! Not only was it gracious and thus complementary of the author in a tangential way, (no direct compliments; just a reverence that was compelling to me to want to find its justification) and it promised something unspecified that fired my curiosity. Then I started to read the book itself. Triumph, courage and hard earned life wisdom are for me some of the key words that epitomise what this lady has displayed; through a chain of experiences few could ever even conceive. So powerful an experience that I couldn’t put the book down and have just seen Ive read cover to cover in 5 hrs!
The ‘wisdom’ in the book, if I may be permitted to say that at age 77 when one feels one has had the chance to learn so many life lessons, ought to be printed on magnetic pages that leap up and stick to the readers forehead as an immoveable life aide memoire. At my age I nodded in amazement at the truisms and ‘life positions’ that this young lady (well everyone in young to me!) identified through experiences ordinary mortals hope they luckily avoid; but that led her to the life discoveries she sets out here that we lesser mortals can embrace and use - thanks to her writing so honestly and sincerely. A wonderful book of discovery for anyone wanting to understand how to plan their way through this complex existence we call life. It’s a much richer, coherent life for everyone after they read this! 5.0 out of 5 stars Deeply touching 15 Jan. 2014

I thought this book was fantastically written. The experiences and emotions were made so real and the words of wisdom are so precious. I think it's wonderful that one person could deal with such a life-changing experience so well and come out the other end stronger. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading true, deep and meaningful words and be touched by them so much as to try and alter ones way of life for the better.

5.0 out of 5 stars An inspiring book 22 Nov. 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
As Simone's uncle, I must confess to being biased! However, I cannot put this book down without comment. It is not a novel in polished, professional prose: it's a gutsy, unselfconscious and inspiring account of one young woman's triumph over the worst kind of adversity. I recommend it without reservation and will certainly be dipping into it many times again.
