Product Description

The destructive hydrogues continue their war against humans and the fiery entities, the faeros - a struggle that kills planets and extinguishes whole stars. Newly crowned Mage-Imperator Jora'h, the leader of the ancient and vast Ildiran Empire, struggles with new knowledge he has learned: an ancient bargain and long-standing treachery that may finally bring peace with the hydrogues ...though it could mean the extermination of the human race. In the Terran Hanseatic League, Chairman Basil Wenceslas continues his red-herring war against the Roamer clans, eager to achieve a decisive victory, even against a supposed enemy that poses no threat. Their homes destroyed, the wandering Roamers scatter into hiding, trying to keep their culture and government intact, even when faced with enemies from all sides. Cesca Peroni, leader of the Roamers, finds herself stranded on a small icy outpost where miners have uncovered a hibernating army of alien Klikiss robots. Once released, these robots trigger another dark and ancient plot, one that could lead to a massacre across all human-inhabited planets ...

I have enjoyed many of the works that Kevin Anderson has published and this series has been extremely enjoyable. Reading Scattered suns though, I cant escape the feeling that a series of 3 or maybe 4 books is being stetched to a far greater number for sales. Yes, this book is well written, but coming to the end i cant really say that anything has been added to the story. Certainly pieces are being moved for hopefully a gripping climax (at some point!) but there were certianly parts of the story that felt unneccesary. The whole "Illidrian civil war" felt shoehorned in really and i keep remembering my mother's old saying about soup. "if you water it down too much, you just end up with a big pot of water!"

Hopefully, the series will reach its firey climax, and i hope we dont end up with a big pot of water

Fantastic 8 Aug 2006

The continuation of this incredibe series is simply amazing. I was hooked from the first page. The way the chapters are divided to follow the different major characters kept me reading the entire book until I'd finished it. The intrigue and plot twists are timed to perfection and the end of the story left me wanting the next book immediately.

Scattered Characteres across and engaging galaxy.
Although Anderson has many characters he is mostly able to keep confusion away. The glossary at the back of the novel does nothing to detract from the story. Read more

Scattered Suns - Will it ever end!!
Not a lot happens in this latest instalment of Saga of Seven Suns. I find the short 2/3 page paragraphs a bit frustrating as they jump between one story line to another. Read more
