...and unhealthy.
This review Contains some spoilers, but those are kind of a given, as this is a romance where Nicole and Jordan eventually end up together, despite him marrying his fiancee a month after he met Nicole for the first time.
I guessed how this tale would end up, and when it got there, yes, I was kind of happy that Nicole and Jordan now had their chance to be together, around 20-25 years after they first fell for each other. But, I also found it sad that both of them had kind of wasted their lives up until that point, though, admittedly, he more than her.
In the years that they've been apart, they've had sporadic contact, and it kind of seemed to keep a flame burning low between them, but I think that they should have allowed that to either burn out, or to add fuel to it, and made the best of it, years ago. As a result, he ended up spending most of his adult life in limbo and alone after his divorce, and she ended up a single parent. I don't think that she was blameless in her marriage, as even on her wedding day she'd had doubts and had still gone ahead - and her husband turned out to be an unfeeling louse.
Overall, the lovers-long-denied got there, with her kids playing Cupid, but it felt anti-climactic, as Nicole and Jordan hadn't even kissed, let alone had a real romantic moment. Maybe this would have worked better had it been set a few decades ago, instead of in a contemporary setting.
The tale was well-written, but at one vital point the author used 'fart' instead of 'far', which was pretty unforgiveable. Could all be fixed easily with the help of a spell-check!
I kind of wish I hadn't read it, as it did seem as if two people who should have gone for what they really wanted ended up wasting the best years of their lives.
