5.0 out of 5 stars Great Collection 11 Nov 2002
By A Customer - Published on
This short story collection is an awesome addition to any horror fans library. The stories all involve southern folk in weird, sometimes scary and othertimes side-splittingly hilarious situations. The stories are a fast read, well-written, entertaining, and enlightening. David Whitman has a true gift for dialogue and dark comedy and is surely a rising star. I truly enjoyed the colleciton and know if you take a gamble, you won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lots of fun stuff in here! 29 Mar 2001

This is a pretty unusual collection (I can't recall the last time I saw a collection dedicated to the folks from this often forgotten aspect of society) but well-deserving of notice for its eclectic flavor. Pick it up for some fine entertainment and a great addition to your collection of books.

Highly recommended!

I downloaded this because I fancied something different - and that was what I got - an impressive collection of amusing, eclectic, quirky, well written stories! All were unpredictable in terms of outcome and all were great fun.

Do not let the title put you off - just buy the book!

Nope, there is really nothing scary here unless you, like me, have to suppress a shudder whenever someone tells you they are a huge NASCAR fan ;-)
What you will get is a collection of very quirky short stories, wrapped in the humidity and kudzu of some great Southern storytelling.
If you are familiar with the Chattanooga, TN area, you are in for a treat, as most of the story settings are centered there.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Fun! 29 April 2013

I thought the stories made for some fun reading. I didn't read the book because I was looking for some literary masterpiece, the book had some witty stories that had me laughing out loud, and to be honest some of the stories had me thinking about the things my buddies and I did back in our youth.
