I needed this to plug permanently to my TV as l have a nephew who come round with his playstation and needed easy access to the back of my TV, this prevents him from messing up my TV by having it permanently plug down to one of the spare scart on my TV, l also find this useful for plugging in my Sony camera lead should l want to view it on my TV, saves me the trouble of also going to the back of my TV as l have it pluged on ready to go.

I used to connect my PS2 via AV coaxial cables to my TV. This was perfectly fine when my TV used to be a CRT, but once I bought a large 40" LCD TV, the picture looked blurred and was awful to look at.

I read that a SCART connector offers a greater quality picture and they were right! The TV now switches to AV input automatically when I switch on the PS2 and the picture is much sharper.

This cable is not the "official" cable, but it does exactly what it is supposed to at a fraction of the price. You will not regret buying this!

This item I brought because I needed something to play my PS2 on my HDTV. It is one of the best third party items ever. It works beautifully and the fact it plays import games correctly is a plus. The only bad side is I cant play games with an option to play 480p. Still a brilliant product nonetheless.

Before buying this cables had bought another much cheaper playstation av cable, well the difference in the two cables is worlds apart as with this playstation scart cable the picture is as clear as day and there is zero noise or flicking on the tv where as the other av cable was simply made of very cheap parts and had lots of noise on the tv screen.

Sure this scart cable feels cheap but who cares when it does the job it was made for, plus the av inputs in the middle of the cable made this cable universal with other gaming or video devices

Just what I needed to play my Playstaion 1 console again. Thanks

Having read on the internet about wether an RGB SCART lead can make a difference I decided for the price it was worth a try.
Picture clarity is quite a lot better, as I had been trying a game with a lot of text in it which had been difficult to read on the 3 phono (composite) PS2 lead.
However potential buyer should be aware of some downsides of using this RGB or perhaps any other.
For a start you cannot play DVDs without swapping your orginal composite lead (Sony's idea!). Other RGB leads do feature a switch which uses switches between RGB and composite to get around this. However they often cost more, and besides as the sCARt usually plugs in around the back of the TV this can be awkward to switch over anyway so no real loss these.
Second problem is that if your TV has two SCARTS usualy only AV1 is RGB enabled and you will get odd results/no change to the picture is you try to use the second SCART and yes if you ouse a SCART switch unit you picture will degrade slightly. Personalyl my TV had an S-Video socket on the front so I conneted the DVD player to this instead and the PS2 to the SCART socket on the back.
Lastly is you have been accustomed to the composite PS2 display you may find when using this or any other RGB lead your picture seems a lot darker by comparison. Various theories abound around the internet as to why this happens. Personally having dabled a little in this field of electronics in the past I think the Copmosite output is possibly being over driven resulting in a lot of "false" brightness, like cranking the brightness on your TV very high. With a composite PS2 lead in dark areas where the picture should be near black it looks dark grey (handy for seeing things in the shadows). When your try it with an RGB lead it will be very dark.
