I started reading this book thinking 'another one of those child abuse books' as there are so many on the market at the moment.
However, from the onset the book drew me in and I couldn't put it down. Sophie's journey through life took me through a journey of my own - shock, disgust, happiness and disbelief.
At first the book seems inconceivable as real life, then it almost seems like it was resolving too easily.
'Scarred' made me recoil in horror and disgust, laugh and cry (at the end - I read the acknowledgement after the rest of the book) but now that I have finished it, I too feel a little alone... I want to know what happened to Sophie next - the book made me feel as I was living her life with her.
Brilliant, amazing book, definitely not for the faint hearted.
