I was really wary of buying (yet another) edition of this 'interesting' movie after all the waste-of-time Public Domain versions already out there, but I was pleasantly surprised. It's acceptable - no, it's better than that, technically it's quite good.
I call this film 'interesting' only because, as most people already know, this was Lugosi's only full-length colour feature. The plot itself is another matter (somewhat tepid and pointless - you may be 'bored to death'! but it's a revelation to view a copy that, despite showing its age (slightly muted colours), is free of the usual splices and crackle that so ruin other cheap issues of this movie. Someone mentioned somewhere that it's an NTSC-to-PAL transfer (which it is) and I feared that this may affect the image quality, but it doesn't. No jerkiness, no odd framing or anything like that.
If you're a Lugosi completist and you've yet to acquire an acceptable version of this strange little film, then here it is. Buy with confidence!
