Product Description

Product Description
As 'Scarecrow' Schofield watches his mission to eliminate a Siberian turn into a bloodbath, he realises he has been tricked - and now become the prey rather than the predator. For a shadowy consortium of staggering power and wealth has included his name on a list of fifteen targets to be eliminated without fail by twelve noon that same day. Now every high-powered bounty hunter on the planet is on his trail, while he must simultaneously track down the perpetrators of a conspiracy about to reduce many of the major cities of the world to ashes. From Arctic Russia to the Afghan border, to France's Atlantic Coast, to a speed-of-light conflict over the Suez Canal, every form of ultra-tech weaponry comes into play in a spellbinding action drama unfolding within a mere twenty-four hours.

About the Author
Matthew Reilly, born and still resident in Sydney, studied law before turning his pen to fiction. His previous novels, Contest, Ice Station, Temple and Area 7, have been massive bestsellers in every continent.

5.0 out of 5 stars Breathless!!, 30 Mar 2006
By A Customer
Scarecrow is a great read if you like action and adventure stories. The plot twists and turns and the action sequences seem never ending, and leave you breathless. It would make a great movie except you would leave the theatre exhausted!

5.0 out of 5 stars Lots of Thrills, Don't Take the Book Too Seriously, 15 Jan 2008
By J. Chippindale (England) - See all my reviews
(TOP 50 REVIEWER)

Matthew Reilly was born in Sydney in 1974. He studied Law at the University of New South Wales. He has written both screenplays and magazine articles. His second and third novels, Ice Station and Temple, became No. 1 bestsellers in his native Australia, and went on to enjoy huge success internationally. The author lives in Sydney.

This book, first published in 2003, is the third book in the Shane Schofield series, following Ice Station (1998) and Area 7 (2001). Captain Shane Schofield, call-sign Scarecrow, has been put on a hit list by an unknown consortium and he has got his hands full just trying to stay alive. All the so-called bounty hunters in the area are after nailing his skin to the wall. At the same time he is attempting to track down the members of a conspiracy that could annihilate some of the world's major cities. It all adds up to being one of Reilly's best books to date.

Reilly's books are full of blood and thunder. Full of the latest weapons technology and people who know how to use them. People who are prepared to run through a brick wall if necessary to achieve their ends. Some of the things that happen in his books have the reader questioning where reality ends and fantasy takes over but it doesn't really matter, just go along for the ride and enjoy the action, there's plenty of it.

5.0 out of 5 stars fast-paced....you had better believe it!!!!, 10 Mar 2006
what can i say, words fail me....
i am reading this book at the moment and having read contest, ice station and temple already was prepared for a good read...
this book doesn't disappoint , if you like your action fast-paced and far-fetched but still beleivable then you won't go far wrong.
like the other titles you just can't put this one down , its causing me late nights when i just must see whats over the page and cold baths when i realise i've just spent an hour reading and the waters cold!!!
gets the adrenalin running just reading it...

thoroughly recommended.!!!!

enjoy!!!
