Book Description

Six years have passed since the intervention of the Man-Lion, a creature in the likeness of the Sphinx, and the quantum computer, in human affairs. But trouble is brewing once again for Jack Wheeler and the woman he loves from afar--Emma White.

Imprisoned in the sunken city of Atlantis for straying from the anointed path, the Man-Lion dispatches the Sphere of Ra to warn Jack about the approaching danger. The object, discovered inside a bolder in the Drakensberg mountains of South Africa by rock-painting expert Dr. Kobus van Niekerk, seems to confirm various predictions doing the rounds that the earth will be destroyed by a super solar flare on 31 March that same year.

Jack tries to prevent the catastrophe by assembling the same team involved in the bizarre events initiated by Project Scarab years previously.

But in finding and rebooting the quantum computer, Jack inadvertently opens wormhole to a parallel universe, which allows something dark and sinister to slip through into ours.

More About the Author

Let's see: I was born in Alexandria Egypt, grew up in Greece, lived and studied in South Africa and in London, taught screenwriting and digital media in Australia, have recently completed a Ph.D in narrative studies, and have found creative freedom through publishing on Amazon. I like stories of all sorts, but I especially love science fiction, horror, and thrillers or any mixture thereof. I'm also looking forward to being the first octogenarian on board that first manned mission to Mars. As long as I can upload my next novel to Kindle from up there, that is.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excillirating read! 23 Jun. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
What an enjoyable book! The second in the Scarab series, it has certainly improved since the first and can only continue to do so.  Several genres are mixed together, which alleviates boredom!  The author is knowledgeable on the subject but is able to describe complex concepts in layman's terms, making them easy to understand.  The subject matter is interesting and mind boggling at the same time.  The incorporation of parallel universes, quantum mechanics and the end of the world, all of which are hot topics right now, makes this book hard to put down.  It seems like the type of book that would slot well into today's movie trends, so maybe a movie in the offering? I would recommend that you give it a try. Well worth the read if you are at all a fan of science fiction, and even if you are not, there is enough other subject matter, mystery, intrigue, romance, and jealousy to cover that!

3.0 out of 5 stars nice follow on 11 Mar. 2014

This book follows on nicely from the first. As always with quantum or time/space themes there are paradoxes and confusion. The author held it together enough to make it readable. I enjoyed it.
