I am currently trying to book a trip to Scandinavia, and the Lonely Planet is only of limited help. I usually have a guide book to hand when booking my trips (I get away for about 8 weeks of the year on average) and find them useful to give an overview.

This guide however is of limited use. The index has missing references and incorrect page numbers for the references that are there. They also provide you details of what to do but no details on how to arrange e.g. getting from Bergen to Oslo by train which is supposed to be one of the most beautiful train journeys in the world.

I have come to a point where I am going to purchase a different guide book to finish my booking, which is rather annoying.

I have giving the rating of 3 stars as the city guides are reasonable and details on train journeys have been helpful.

Overall - disappointment of a usually very good series.

Review of the book 12 April 2011
By Checkie
Format:Paperback
This book has helped me a lot in planning my 2-week trip to Scandinavia. The suggested places to visit have given me lots of guidance on where to go during the trip. A slight deficiency is that the book was based on information in 2009 and most of the prices mentioned are not up-to-date. Despite of this, it still gives a good reference and I could still do some relevant research online. The maps in the book are particularly useful too. I do not need to look for maps in every city I visit.
