A Regency Historical Novel - Book Two of the Scandalous Series...

Handsome ladies’ man Lucas Beckford has agreed to help his friend, an impoverished baron, win the affections of an icy heiress. It should be a simple task, especially for a seducer of his reputation. However when Luke catches sight of the enchanting lady, he is captivated with her pretty brown eyes, quick wit, and sharp tongue; and his desire to see his friend marry the girl quickly evaporates. Now he just has to find a way to convince the penniless lord to turn his attentions elsewhere—leaving the Ice Princess to him.

Lady Juliet St. Claire has always believed that her fortune would protect her from ever having to relinquish her freedom in marriage. Though fortune hunters endlessly hound her, Juliet’s outwardly cold demeanor keeps most of them at bay, licking their wounds or patching up their pride. However when Luke charms his way into her life, he easily melts more than just her heart. Unfortunately, the rogue is of the love ‘em and leave ‘em variety, and leaves Juliet’s tender heart in pieces. But when her fortune lands her in danger from an unscrupulous foe, Luke returns to her side, offering his help and protection. Now Juliet has to decide if her heart is strong enough to trust the rogue a second time.

"Sweet Lucifer"!!!!! 23 April 2012
By Ms.V - Published on Amazon.com

Luke had me at "Sweet Lucifer" I was laughing so hard whenever he was around I just simply could not help myself and this is probably one of few books that has made me laugh so much with a hero, and I may add that this line alone was so unique, that it was refreshing, I had never heard this expression in any book before and I just found it beyond funny!

ok now for the rest of the book:
******SPOILER ALERT******

I really enjoyed the whole book which the author did an incredible job of creating such wonderful character's throughout that made me feel like I knew each and every single one no matter the how little time was spent on their development which to me was an amazing talent from the author. I really liked Juliet as the heroine, she was adorable, strong willed, sensetive and not afraid of losing her inhabitions. Her and Luke made an fantastic focus of this tale and I really enjoyed seeing how each learned from what was dealt to them and grew individually, each in their own way.

Although I was VERY upset with the loss of one of my fav character's and was waiting to see how her own story was going to end up, I say it played well in the whole plot of the book and although I felt a loss, it made sense and actually was refreshing to see this was out of the norm for the typical romances that usually steer clear of a likable character being eliminated. I really liked all the secondary character's, even the villan's, I especially loved Alexander and he left me somewhat beathless and now that I know there is a whole book on his story, I cannot wait to read that one! I also especially liked Caroline, she was simply adorable with such a HUGE heart!

The reason I did not give this 5 stars was only due to my personal feeling of being a bit overwhelmed with ALOT of new or old (since I have not read any of the other series as of yet) character's being thrown in, I felt at certain points within the book that I was somewhat lost as to who I was reading about, but non the less the whole tale had me engrossed from beginning to end and I loved every minute of it. I will certainly look forward to reading the rest of the series and more from Ms. Stone as I felt she was a fantastic tale spinner!

A Bad Boy Reformed 29 Jan 2011
By Stacey A. - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
Ava Stone is one of my favorite new authors, and A Scandalous Charade was a treat. It is an easy read and kept me up late because I wanted to know what Luke would do next. It was great to see him fall in love with Juliette. I hope there will be more stories in this series, because the characters are so much fun. There were some unexpected parts in the story - perhaps daring would a good descriptive word for Ms. Stone. If you are looking for something that doesn't conform to the exact formulary of a romantic story, Ms. Stone is the author for you. However, there is a happy ending, which is really what I want out of a romance. Bravo. Looking forward to more.

Loved it! 29 Jan 2011

We met Luke in the first book by Ava Stone, and he was definitely a character I wanted to know more about. I'm glad to see that he got his own story. I love Juliette, too, and think she's a good match for him. I got this book on my iPad and ended up missing dinner so that I could finish it. Ms. Stone has a way of sweeping you into her Regency world and you don't want to leave. This book was well worth the time I spent reading it and it's going on my keeper shelf.
