Product Description

Product Description

Everyone has been conned at some stage - whether you've had your bag stolen, your credit card number lifted, or paid more than you should for a taxi ride. You never know when there's a swindler in your midst and by the time you do, they're often twenty minutes down the road. This book reveals the swindles, scams and slights-of-hand that take seconds to happen but drive you crazy for hours or possibly days. Most fraudsters use simple elements such as surprise, distraction and fear to take advantage of their unsuspecting victims. Taking only minutes to read, Scam! alerts you to the tell-tale signs of imminent cons, helping you to keep your wits, your finances and your property intact in even the most tricky situations.

4.0 out of 5 stars Tiny book of knowledge, 22 Dec 2004
By Marcus Borg (UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
When a tiny pink book popped out of my huge Amazon order, I thought "Hello..is this a scam book"?. You know, like the late 70's classic "Everything men know about women" that contained 70 blank pages. I actually opened it up and was disappointed to see big print on the pages...but it is one of those little gems.

What lies within is a great little wake up call to some of us that get complacent about some things. It does not fill you with all the information that you would require to be safe from every scam artist out there, but it refreshes your 'scam-alert' impulses and makes you smile at some of the japes.

A little taster is one scam in which you see an advert in the local rag claiming "52 cigarette lighters for £5". It looks a good enough deal at 10p each and you send your money off. What you get back in return, is a box of 52 safety matches. Does what it says on the tin, but you are £4.80 out of pocket.

A great stocking filler present or something to amuse for a small time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice easy to read book., 23 Jun 2008
I bought this for £1 from one of the Amazon marketplace sellers. A good read that should make a few people aware of the sort of con tricks that go on.

5.0 out of 5 stars A little gem!, 19 Nov 2004
I read this book two weeks ago and have done quite a bit of travel since. Just reading this book increases your awareness to so many potential scams out there...

It could almost be a 'how to save money book'!! There are so many books on how to save money and very few on what to be aware of that could potentially save your cash simply by not falling victim to low life criminals - not to mention the hassle/stress that comes with losing cash, credit cards and passports when travelling.

A close friend is about to go on six month trip of a life time, and I have put together a survival kit for her - of course SCAM will be right at the top.

Highly recommended

Quite simply the most stunning novel I've ever read. A romance unlike any other. Every page was the same colour, and I think the same font. Brilliant. Read more
