My favorite knife. 7 Jun 2009

I have carried a lot of knives in my lifetime. I worked hvac for several years, which required work done in cramped places (under houses and attics). I carried several different kinds of knives during this time, eventually resulting in using one-hand opening knives for convenience. I usually used cheap knives that I would replace since I used them for applications they were not designed to be used for and would simply replace them when necessary. I found this Ken Onion Kershaw knife and it instantly became my favorite. They blade holds an edge well/is not soft. The size is a perfect compromise for most circumstances. The one-hand operation is utilized by depressing the back side of the handle with your index finger. The blade does not loosen over time like cheaper knives (I have had mine for over 5 years and carry it every day). My only complaint is the blade lock which is a little slider that goes over the blade when closed. They could have put more time in designing that feature. Everyone that I've shown this knife to really likes it and usually buys one for his/her self.

...and by 'disabled' I mean 'can use only one hand'.
I have always had a pocket knife in my pocket. OK, not always, but for as long as this 42 yr. old can remember. Now I have the use of only one hand due to MS.
I looked for and found the perfect pocket knife for me.
I can: unlock the blade and then open it until it locks in place; then I unlock the open blade, close it, then re-lock it 'closed'. All of this easily done with one hand; my left.
The blade comes sharp and is easily sharpened.
Clip it to my pocket (it goes inside pocket/clip outside pocket) and I am ready to 'go'.
Never has rust. I don't put much torque on the blade, but I don't think that's a designed use for it. I don't have any 'heavy' uses for it because I am disabled. Before MS, though, I went through many, many, many comparable cost yet lesser quality pocket knives during my good hands-on-job years.
I have nothing but good things to say about this pocket knife.
It's more than worth the low price. ...and MADE IN THE USA!

Perfect small knife for everyday carry 16 Mar 2012
By heisenburg - Published on Amazon.com
I've owned three of these knives, and bought around four or so additional simply as presents. My most recent of my three (the other two are lost somewhere) was purchased exactly 5 years ago as of this writing, and is still as solid as the day I bought it. I've carried it probably 350 days out of 365 every year since I bought it, and the blade stays nice and sharp while also being easy to sharpen.

I've never had it open in my pocket, and to be honest I've even removed the safety because it seems unnecessary to me. The assisted opening is not easy to trigger accidentally, so I'd just as soon not have a safety.

The steel used on the knife (420HC) is a nice steel, but by no means a supersteel (like 440C or S30V). If I could improve the knife I would give it a higher-quality steel, but then you'd probably be doubling the price. For the price this knife cannot be beat.

The finish kindof reminds me of a powdercoat (apparently it's anodized aluminum), but the finish is still 100% intact after 5 years.

The short story: You'll probably do like me and lose the knife way before you retire it.
