Four cars can be raced simultaneously using the powerbase provided in the set or upgrade to the Advanced Six Car Digital Powerbase (C7042) for six car races plus a host of additional features.
Digital layouts are fully compatible with standard Scalextric track pieces.

I got this for my 8 year old son's birthday. I remember wanting one as a child, so was looking forward to a bit of male bonding with my boy around fast cars. However, it hasn't happened that way yet - it only comes out at the request of younger cousins. You need more than the oval track to maintain interest (at least my son's interest). As for the product quality, yes the wing mirror of one of the cars came off in fairly short order, but I'm pretty happy with the cars all the same. I'm also glad we went digital. It may not sound a big deal, but being able to switch tracks provides adds a level of fun to the play. However, it's quite expensive and doesn't command the enthusiasm my son shows for Lego or K'nex, which in retrospect may have been better plays at this stage. Nevertheless, I am still hopeful of some father son racing time, though that will probably require a gamble on some more track to make the course more interesting.

Good quality. We bought extra tracks to make it more fun. One problem is the cars swing off tracks all the time,even with slower speed. You do feel a bit fed up when you have to keep stopping, picking cars up and repositioning them, maybe we are just rubbish drivers! Overall it is a good toy and I would recommend.

I used to hate scalextric as a child, cars never stayed on the track, cars were dull and boring and it was well over priced.
I brought this set for my sons Christmas present, not expecting very much for the money I spent, I was hugely surprised. Magentic cars are awesome, very durable (I like the semi rubber track, so much better) and the digital aspect is fabulous. Being able to change lanes adds a whole new element of fun and removes 'nascar' aspect of it.]
Is it educational, no, but this toy is about fun (remember the day when toys were just toys made for child delight).
I paid £99 from Amazon, but even at £150+ its still worth it and I've already brought my son some upgrades to extend the track further.
