I bought this set for my 5 y/o son after a disastrous experience with a micro set. This set is just great fun and at the price paid good value. The cars (Aston Martins) are both nice & seem evenly matched. My son picked up the skills required pretty quick and regularly beats me (though does tend to come off at the harpin :-)).
Loses one star for the DC converter lead being so short (dictating set up near a socket or an extension lead) & the wing mirror breaking off of the DB5 on the first crash (though that's a by product of high detailed cars it seems).
That has now spurred us to order a lap timer/counter (note that this accessory comes standard with the top gear set) & look into getting some extension pieces to make a bigger track, & of course check out some additional cars.

Slightly diappointed with this item to begin with. I continued to hear the shout of my cars not working. we adjusted the track again and again, and needed to recheck all pieces were connected correctly (it does say they may not due to packaging so to check). I would recommend using on a hard surface rather than on carpet as the pieces to hold up the bridge also tend to move as people walk by.
More positively, the cars both look fantastic and as we bought as a present it's keeping our son and daughter happy

We bought this for our sons 34th Birthday - because he is just a big kid. The cars are great (although the mirrors looked a bit precarious when the cars come off the track), they have really good detail on them, and the track is easy to fit together. The magnetised track really helps when cornering. Great play value and great fun.
