If you want more than an intercomm don't buy it, 1 July 2008
This review is from: Cardo Scala Rider Q2 Motorcycle Bluetooth Bike to Bike Intercom
Works well as an intercom. I had no problem with wind or road noise or clarity after a little adjusting of the microphone positons. Using the intercomm and a GPS (Tom Tom Rider V2) has so far been impossible. Yes I know it prioritses but the passenger headset drops off line. The Scala Q2 master logs on to the GPS but then drops the passengers headset connection. The system certainly does not cope with 4 separate blue tooth devices as quoted. Help line is a tedious online process. If you want more than an intercomm, don't buy it.

Scala Q2 Headset - I like it!, 30 July 2008
This review is from: Cardo Scala Rider Q2 Motorcycle Bluetooth Bike to Bike Intercom
I have seen the other 2 reviews and I have to say I like the Q2 headset - it works well with the Tom Tom Rider V2 and I can hear the voice commands well at well over motorway speeds in my Shoei lid (but not so well in my Caberg)and to have my Ipod on a radio transmitter playing a bit of Chilli Peppers or whatever on a long motorway trip is a bonus. I ride a 1200 GS without earplugs and I do not use the intercom facility. Tom Tom Rider v2 is useful but it creates havoc with just about any phone I have used but who wants to take calls on a bike? Not me! Just clear sat nav instructions, speed camera warnings and some music to while away motorway tedium. If you have sat nav and like music when you are riding buy one. If you don't then why are you reading this?

Good but not perfect, 23 Dec 2008
This review is from: Cardo Scala Rider Q2 Motorcycle Bluetooth Bike to Bike Intercom
My wife got a Cardo Rider headset with her Tomtom Rider satnav and it seemed a good idea so I got one as well. I should have waited a while for her experience.
It's not a bad product and I am sure that the majority of buyers will be very happy with it. The audio quality is good and it is quite possible to have clear telephone conversations at highly illegal speeds but it is not perfect.
To start with, Cardo claim that it can easily be fitted to and removed from most helmets. Yes but not most BMW and Schuberth. As these helmets have flexible skirts around the bottom edge the clamp cannot be used unless a slot is cut in the material. Once Cardo realised this they supplied the bracket with an adhesive pad so it can be stuck to the helmet. The two snags here are (1) I don't want to glue things to the side of a £450 helmet and (2) it may make it easy to fit - but not remove.
Another problem, if a flip front helmet is used, is that every time the helmet is flipped open and closed gloves have to be removed in order to fiddle the microphone back under the bottom edge. I managed to break the first mic very quickly by getting it jammed in the flip - as, of course, it's hard to see where it is when the helmet is on. The standard mic boom is also too short for flip helmets.
I bought a new bracket and boom for mine and now use it on a spare helmet and it works OK but I still have the problem of forgetting to recharge the dongle. My other helmet has an Autocom headset which is hard wired to the bike. For me its a much better solution.
