I like the new album very much, as Troy develops his music throughout his career as a Jazzmen. It is definitely more than just the jazz music. It's the whole bunch of flavors like : rock, soul, funk. Raphael Saadiq is a co producer on this one, so it really sounds great with soulful touch.I rate this album with 5 stars.I deeply regret, that I have missed his gig at Koko.Definitely recomended.

Liking Trombone Shorty feels like being part of a small unique club, judging from the reception he got at his recent one-off UK gig in Koko. He needs to be better known, as this album, like the previous 2 is excellent. He is totally convincing and committed, whether playing super funky New Orleans infused instrumentals, or being the smooth soul man. So much talent, great songs, tight band, with superb guest artists.

Dissappointing after first album . I prefer more instrumental brass to 70's style vocals. I will though look out for the next CD and hope to see him performing.

Five GROOVING Stars! Grammy-nominated composer, arranger, trumpet, trombone, and vocal star Troy "Trombone Shorty" Andrews continues his meteoric rise with the recording "Say That To Say This". The DownBeat 2012 Readers Poll trombone winner and BillBoard chart topper, fronts the hot septet "Orleans Avenue" (Michael "Bass" Ballard, guitarist "Freaky Pete" Murano, drummer Joey "In and Out" Peebles, tenor saxist Tim McFatter, percussionist Dwayne "Big D" Williams, baritone saxist Dan "Uncle Potato Chip" Oestreicher, and Shorty himself). They play a successful groove-laden mixture of vocal and instrumental jazz, hip hop, pop, rock and roll, blues, funk, and 'beyond music' that the group calls "superfunkrock". One of the rare musicians who doubles at the virtuosic level on both trumpet and trombone, this recording shows Shorty has also become a very engaging, soulful vocalist. His previous recordings and live appearances have helped to elevate him from a New Orleans favorite, to a national-level luminary, to an international music festival sensation. This recording shows his current musical evolutionary stage is something very unique, very personal, and both timeless and contemporary, based on his New Orleans and urban 21st Century music influences and the capabilities of his group.

The best of the best begins with the hot vocal/solo vehicles "You and I (Otta This Place)", "Dream On", and "Fire and Brimstone" (with its hot trombone solo), all featuring hard-driving vocals with a strong positive urban message. The instrumentals such as "Say This To Say That" (with a great guitar/bass break and wonderful trombone solo), "Shortyville", and the multi-tracked "Vieux Carre (The French Quarter)" which accurately brings to mind aspects of this area of New Orleans, are burning, toe-tapping experiences.
