I was lucky enough to get an advanced copy of this book at the Cake and Bake Show, and saw Edd demo a couple of recipes.

I made the salted caramel truffles when I got back... and they were delicious. They also went down very well with all my co-workers!

As mentioned in other reviews, the recipes unlike in his other book, are organised by occasion, with a variety of recipes that I would love to try!

Next on my list is the Concorde meringue/mousse.

Not every recipe has a photograph, which is disappointing, but some have more in depth tutorial style photos to accompany the recipe, which makes the more complex recipes much easier to get your head round.

All in all, it's a very attractive book, with little pictures and anecdotes spread throughout. Definitely up to the standard of the previous book: The Boy Who Bakes

Edd Kimber, for me, is the best contestant in all 3 y ears of the Great British Bake Off. He really does deliver brilliant flavours and textures - and makes things look great (without needing several years of decorating training!)

This collection - focussing as it does on celebration baking - is a great follow-up on his first volume. What particularly impresses me is the way Edd makes things very accessible in terms of technique and ingredients. He is up front that he is a baker not a cake decorator and so everything is done with the minimum of equipment/experience - but still to deliver the best looking cakes and biscuits he can.

The Chocolate and Guiness cake sounds amazing - and I will be making some salted caramel truffles next week!

Full of lovely recipes; the bold colour of the spine makes a nice break in the horrific collection of pink cupcake books I've been given. I've since gone vegan and have only used the book once, but it'll still make for good inspiration and I might even try to convert some of my favourite recipes to be vegan friendly. If you're looking for good, easy to read recipes, or maybe even just something a little bit different - this book is for you.
