Another brilliant album from Sam. If you like his work you should have this and if it is new to you start here and work back. Although he is unlike anybody else the stories remind me of the work of Guy Clark and the prose reminds me of Hemmingway ,with not one extra word beyond what is absolutely necessary. Just brilliant Sam ,thank you very much.

I cant put into words how much I love this album. I just don't know how. It is so so special. I loved all his other albums as well and this is slightly different from the others - probably less introspective perhaps. But still sparse and poetic in its simplicity and power. I'm not really a Country fan as such, but clearly I must like it cos I love Sam's stuff. What I think I like about this is the simplicity, uncomplicated space and minimal instruments. Less is more. Yeah, I love it.
Sometimes it makes me think of Leonard Cohen and sometimes a bit of John Prine, but mostly just Sam Baker.
I always feel grateful that I heard of Sam Baker and that's thanks to Bob Harris. This is a gem.

This is Sam's 4th album and 4 years since the astonishing Cotton.
This is more of the same brilliant writing as his 3 previous albums. He paints pictures with his beautiful lyrics and you will soon find yourself playing this CD over and over.
Its a real grower and if you ever get the chance to see him live, don't miss him.

I think this even beats Pretty World. Songs that grow, great arrangements and totally affecting lyrics about ordinary people. All this delivered in Sam Baker's trademark Laconic drawl. An original talent that at times conjures, Jacques Brel, The Handsome Family and unplugged Richard Thompson. Great songs with real emotion.

Amazing Album, I heard it first time in a BBC radio interview. Amazing songwriter, it just calm you down and bring you in his universe which is full of life stories and feelings. I will surely buy Sam's other albums.

Sam Baker can move me with so few words. He distils emotions so that every word and inflection becomes supercharged. I can't wait to hear him sing songs from "Grace" live.
