This is an essential compilation, for anyone who is into the Mod revival, from 1979-1982. This disc is well researched, liner notes, on the inner sleeve, about each band, who are featured on the CD. There is also details of the 45, for the completist, for the B sides.
The classic, but little known of Phil Daniels 45 Kill another night, is included, truly this was a very busy time for him, also with his acting roles, Quadrophenia, and Breaking Glass.
An early 45 by the Questions , they later signed to Paul Weller's Respond label.
Manchester bands feature with Stadium dogs, Distractions, and the Donkeys.
Lambrettas debut classic Go steady, included, produced by Pete Waterman!
Scottish group the Stiffs, appear twice, with Inside out, and Goodbye my love.
Wayne Hussey (later the Mission) popped up with the Walkie-Talkies, with the excellent Rich and Nasty.
It is also good to have the Classic White Mice by the Mo-dettes, featured, cruelly over-looked, wonderful to see this have some recognition, via this compilation.
Also, one of the finest bands of the era, the Chords, are featured, with the Classic, The british way of life.
Certainly, some of the choices are Borderline, and not strictly Mod, in the purest sense, but a fantastic snap-shot of the era, with a number of one-off singles.
