Product Description

Patricia woke up one day and realized that Einstein’s definition of Insanity as “Doing the same thing over and over while expecting a different result” really applied to her so this domicile-free and income challenged American decided it was time to Do Something Different!

Taking the first step in rewriting the next chapter of her Life, she deleted the 32 resume versions of herself and stopped looking for a job that didn’t want to be found. Next, she sold her old car, gave away her possessions and, accepting an invitation to visit, bought a one way ticket to France.

Saving the Fig Tree Till Last: Diary of an American Adventurer in Southwest France, not your typical travel story chronicles the ups and downs for Patricia as she discovers the countryside of the Midi Pyrenees, the villages and people of the beautiful Gers region of France, and along the way discovers herself.

I really can't rate this book as it doesn't deserve a rateing. I must say, it is the most unentertaining book that I have ever tried to read., was the author on a drug induced trip when she wrote this? It's so bad, I cant possibly finish it.

Saving the Fig Tree Till Last 20 Dec 2011

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and could not put it down till I had finished. It's rare to find someone willing to share their honest search for living truthfully. This author does it candidly and with a great sense of humor, never taking herself too seriously. To me the CONTENT and LESSONS learned are much more important than a literary "perfection". "Saving the Fig Tree Till Last" made me question some of my own old habits of wanting to do what is safe. Living to the fullest requires a willingness to try the unknown and this author gives us plenty of examples of how to go about it. I highly recommend this book full of life lessons.

I chose this book because I want to visit France and wanted to read different perspectives about France. While there are some grammatical flaws to the book, those were really nothing compared to the content. This book really drew me in and I could practically picture all of the stories the author shared. I read this pretty quickly and I was disappointed when it ended because I wanted to keep reading and find out what happened later. If you are interested about France outside of Paris, I truly think you will enjoy this book.
