5.0 out of 5 stars A Very good book, almost as good as the amazing film!, 23 Jun 2003
This review is from: Saving Private Ryan (Paperback)
I won't explain the actual story, because most people out there already know the story ( A Squad of U.S. Marines sent deep behind enemy lines to find and bring back home to America a Private named Ryan, because all three of his brothers were killed in action, and they know Ryan's mother would be devastated if she loses all four of her sons.)
Saving Private Ryan is a brilliant read and is basically like the film, but with more action sequences and more details in the battles and the events in the book.
Very exciting all the way through and people who loved the film will definately love this! Thanks for reading the Review!
(P.S. if you like action and adventure books, you'll love Ice Station by Matthew Reilly, i have written a review on it, if you wanna take the time to read it, that would be cool!)

This review is from: Saving Private Ryan (Paperback)
Having seen the film on numerous occasions and enjoyed it each and everytime,I thought that I would try the book,I doubted that it could be as good as the film and I was completely wrong it is brilliant. My 19 year old son told me he had read it whilst at school and he said it was a great read, there are one or two differences between the film and the book but it in no way spoils it,any fan of the film should try to get hold of a copy of the book and try it.

5.0 out of 5 stars The book Saving Private Ryan, is just as good as the film., 3 Oct 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Saving Private Ryan (Paperback)
Following the Normandy landings, a small company of American soldiers is sent deeper into France to find Private James Ryan, the only surviving brother out of four, and return him home to his mother in America "Penguin Readers" is a series of simplified novels, film novelizations and original titles that introduce students at all levels to the pleasures of reading in English. Originally designed for teaching English as a foreign language, the series' combination of high interest level and low reading age makes it suitable for both English-speaking teenagers with limited reading skills and students of English as a second language. It is a great read and I thoroughly enjoyed it!
