Ursula Rubery has been excited by the written word from an early age. She is drawn to literary farce and loves to introduce larger than life characters into her stories. Her first two novels, 'The Garlic Murders' and 'Saving Hermione' are part of a trilogy which track the international crime fighting duo, Detective Chief inspector Bernie Bisto and Hermione Hush, alias Agent Doubleaitch. Double dealing, mystery and intrigue are always central to her plots.
She has written feature articles for French property magazines detailing her adventures whilst living in France and has contributed to both online and print editions of the national press. Her blog blueskyfrance.blogspot.com is placed where the sea meets the sky on the Cote d'Azur. Bernie Bisto comes to life in her blog berniebistomysteries.blogspot.com
Ursula has now made her debut as a children's author. 'Zachary's Christmas' is the tale of a very troubled little boy whose dog has mysteriously disappeared and as a result, he has become a terror at school. With Christmas fast approaching his emotions and feelings reach a climax. Will the season of good will prevail? zacharyjamesbrown.blogspot.com
Ursula lives both in London and Nice. She loves swimming and sailing and writing novels which, she hopes, surprise and make the reader smile, a lot! The River Thames, with its majesty and history, together with the warmth of the Mediterranean light, nourish the imagination which she pours into her writing.
She has also been greatly influenced by Hardy, Trollope and Gaskell and more recently, Tom Sharpe, who was one of her heroes of literary farce.
