Well researched with many details about what went where. The book reveals as much about attitudes and priorities as the practicalities of moving and storing collections. There may not be any more to be said, but it could have been expanded with information about the programs undertaken in the institutions without collections on view. What was said in the press about the denuded galleries? Needed more details about damage to the buildings to show the evacuation was worth the effort. A slim and thin volume.
