Could be condensed to a good article on heating systems. 8 Dec 2008
By Donald Stoppe - Published on Amazon.com
This book makes a good recommendation to have your oil heating system serviced annually by a technician that calibrates it by instruments to peak efficiency. I was hoping for more oil saving suggestions. This book repeats itself many times with little in additional new ideas. I love the title but the book only focused on the heating system. If you do an internet search on energy saving tips around the home you will get a broader range of suggestions. This book does cover boiler and furnace efficiency, which is very important. I have reduced oil consumption in an apartment building by 35% by replacing an old boiler with a new one. This was surprising since the old boiler had an efficiency test showing 73% and the new boiler tested at 84%. It is more then just the efficiency number I guess. This was very quick reading but a good article on the topic would have been enough. Book summary: Tune up clean and calibrate your oil boiler or furnace annually. Keep it in good repair. Replace it with a high efficiency one if yours if getting old.
