4.0 out of 5 stars Ignore the Blurb as The Story is Better 2 April 2012
Format:Paperback
I nearly didn't read this little gem because of the silly blurb on the back of the book. Such a shame that would have been!

Firstly, a main feature of this plot is Maggie. Maggie is a delightful 85 year old grandmother who is full of life and several opinions. Maggie is currently babysitting her great grandson Harry, who is also vital to the plot, while Harry's mother goes to Germany to reconcile with her husband. This may sound like back story, but this all unfolds slowly through the story.

Our hero, Yiannis Savas, is a suave, rich, jet-setting playboy who is thrilled to bits to have Maggie live in the flat on his property (she keeps his brothers away). He has the ideal life. This all changes the morning after he returns from Malaysia and Maggie calls him to tell him she's fallen. Yiannis loves this grandmother and rushes to her aid only find out she's broken her hip and must stay in hospital. Harry now has a new, somewhat experienced, babysitter. Maggie tries to calm Yiannis's fears by telling him her other granddaughter Cat will soon be here.

Cat MacLean is Yiannis's former lover. When she arrives, Cat is mortified to find out that Maggie is in hospital and will be for a while, Maggie has been babysitting Harry, Harry's mother is in Germany, and that Yiannis now has charge of her teething nephew. She has no real child experience, but she learns real fast.

Cat and Yiannis's relationship is fraught with difficulties. There are serious trust issues that still plague them, Yiannis hates Cat's new fiancé and is determined to break them up, Yiannis's mother arrives with the declaration that she has left his father, and then the joys of the teething child. Watching Yiannis's world fall apart is bittersweet. The sparkling, occasionally funny, dialogue keeps the story from becoming moribund. As they work through each of the problems, slowly they realise that it is time they both grow up and face reality. It helps when they fall back in love, too.

This story is better than the salacious blurb on the back that lead me to think it was going to be sex-a-thon when I picked it up. It is a great story.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good 6 April 2012

Sava's Wildcat by Anne McAllister
4 STARS
This has charming moments. It is a nice fun fast read.
Yiannis Savas wakes up early to a phone call from his 85 year old tenant asking him for a favor and take her to hospital. Yiannis has been out of the country and just got in the night before. He has no idea that she had a great grandson staying with her till he is carring Maggie out to his car when she tells him better take her car because car seat wont fit in his.
Yiannis finds himself baby sitting Harry because his mom is in Germany telling Harry's dad that he is a father. Yiannis has baby sat many times with his big family so at least he knows how to take care of Harry.
Cat MacLean rushes into town after her grandmother calls to tell her she broke a hip and is having surgery the next day. Maggy raised Cat after her parents died. She moved to another part of the state after she broke up with Yiannis when he said he did not want to get married to her. Cat was not happy to deal with him over the baby but she needed his help with Harry.
Cat was now engaged to marry someone else and thought she was over Yiannis. Yiannis realizes that he still wants Cat.
It is funny to watch them watch each other and realize that they are not through with each other after all.

4.0 out of 5 stars "Savas's Wildcat was fun to watch as these two fell in love again..." 24 Jun 2012
By M. Nix - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Catriona "Cat" MacLean and Yiannis Savas had dated two years (maybe three years as the story couldn't decide) before, when Cat started making noises about getting married, and Yiannis said he wasn't interested how about a pizza? (Funny because the opening snippet of this scene says "drink" not "pizza") Thrown together over their mutual desire to help her grandmother and take care of an eight-month-old child, Cat sees a different side of Yiannis. However, it may be too late for them as she is engaged and looking at finally getting the dream she has set up for herself. Yet, Yiannis may prove to be too much temptation for Cat especially when he seems to be a natural in the role she wanted to share with him years ago. Will Yiannis be able to convince Cat that they could still share in her dream, or has he lost her to the other man for good?

Savas's Wildcat was fun to watch as these two fell in love again. I didn't always agree that Yiannis was being selfish by not sharing the same goals as Cat, but I liked that he learned to compromise in the end. I don't believe that Yiannis never truly felt anything for Cat, he just wanted different things out of life, but he realized that in order for her to truly be happy, he may have to give in some on those things. Perhaps one could argue that Yiannis was a tad bit selfish in Savas's Wildcat by not wanting to share his life with others, including his own family, yet it was all understandable in the end.

I also didn't like the fact that the other man came across as not that great of a guy in Savas's Wildcat, which perhaps was to show that he wasn't necessarily a great match for Cat too.

The confession of the time span between when she walked away from dating Yiannis and the present messed with my flow in reading Savas's Wildcat as well. I felt that Yiannis was a compassionate, caring, reliable man and that he truly loved Cat in the end; he just didn't want to have a forever type of relationship in the beginning because it involved a little too much work for him. For a bit, I believed that there may be some angst tossed in with Cat's so-called cousin and her machinations, but that didn't pan out how I had hoped.

Sure Yiannis blunders a bit more in Savas's Wildcat and Cat walks, but he does get it this time and steps up to the plate by offering Cat her every dream all wrapped up in one delicious package! Yiannis was a guy who finally realized that the things that are worth keeping and having, are also worth working for and putting in the effort for.

The characters in the book had good funny dialogue back and forth and I found myself really getting into their story.
