As I like to see a synopsis before buying a book of any description I was initially hesitant to purchase this Stargate SG-1 CD. Upon purchase, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that this story is not a true 'audiobook' but instead an 'audio drama', with the listener hearing Fraiser's POV throughout.
"Savarna" sees Dr Fraiser isolated from the SGC, trying to make the right decisions in order to save a young boy's life while simultaneously ensuring her own return home. Hampered by not always knowing all the facts, Fraiser is caught between her integrity as both doctor and human being and her duty as an officer of the US Air Force. Especially when the 'right' decision often depends entirely on a person's point of view.
Aided by a single support actor and strategic sound effects, Teryl Rothery's impressive performance turns what is essentially a simple script into a powerful monologue where the listener can almost see the action in front of them, coupled with what Janet was feeling at the time.
One note of caution: If you are listening for the first time, consider being somewhere private to do so... this story may make you laugh out loud! And stay tuned for the interview at the end.
