A book based on the 3rd Edition Player's Handbook characters intrigued me greatly. From the first page I enjoyed the plot, even though it is quite the 'ordinary' rescue the girl save the town piece, it has refresed what is quite often an old and stale plot. Kudos to T.H. Lain for fresh ideas.

The book is written solidly. The traditional impossible to pronounce names start pretty much straight off the bat in the prologue and continue through the book. The writing is good being direct and to the point in the combat sequences, changing to a good script for the softer scenes.

I recommend this book mainly because I enjoy fantasy writing. It is good as a start of a series and no doubt that Lain will get stronger as this series carries on.

A thoroughly enjoyable read that passed the time and made me want to read the next in line...
